Text Box: Our first annual Boys & Girls Club Week (February 23 - March 1) just concluded having raised over $20,000 for our Club’s programs and greatly enhancing awareness of our mission here in our community.
The week began on Monday with an Open House that allowed the community to see our Club in action.  With over 50 kids actively engaging in numerous programs, dozens of guests were given the opportunity to see what we do day in and day out with our members.   Through this event we had several new members sign up as well as educated numerous guests about our unique role as a youth development organization.  Thank you to our Parent Advisory Committee for hosting this fabulous event.
Our second event took place on Wednesday at Bainbridge Athletic Club.  The first ever Calories for Kids fundraiser was a hit.  100 healthy and kid-minded supporters joined in on special fitness and tennis clinics throughout the day at both BAC locations.  In addition, a silent auction including a US Open tennis tournament package helped raise addition funding for the Club.  At the end of the day, over $9,000 was raised.  A sincere thank you to Kellan and Ted Eisenhardt and Shelly Stockman of BAC for making this event a reality.
The week concluded on a high note with the Taste of Edna’s event at the beautiful new Edna’s Beach Café.  Fine Northwest food and wine was enjoyed in a spectacular environment by 125 attendees.  The highlight of the evening was an inspiring speech by Adam Cornell who was the 1990 Boys & Girls Clubs of America Youth of the Year.  Over $12,000 was raised at this elegant event.  Thank you to Bill Nelson and John Clark for hosting this first-ever event.
Thank you to everyone who made Boys & Girls Club Week a success and we look forward to next year’s series of events.
